MUTE 01
Silence, worn.
The making
Ninety days,
one frame.
MUTE 01 takes about ninety days to make, and most of that time is spent waiting. Acetate is a slow material. It has to be cut, then left alone, then tumbled, then left alone again. We have not found a way to hurry any of it, and we have stopped looking.

01
Block-cut
Each front is milled from a single sheet of Mazzucchelli acetate, cut in Castiglione Olona. Nothing is moulded and nothing is injected.
02
Rested
The cut fronts rest for six weeks so the material can settle. Acetate that is rushed will move later, on someone's face.
03
Tumbled
Nine days in wooden drums with beech pellets. The shine is the material's own, and there is no lacquer on this frame.
04
Pinned
Nickel-silver rivets are set by hand, one at a time. The diamond heads are the only ornament, beside the mark at the tip.

First release
Released once,
then not again.
MUTE 01 is made in a single run and then not made again. We have not set the date, and we are not going to name one we cannot keep. The list is how you hear: one email, sent the morning it opens. Nothing else, ever.
